Lunch and dinner in the old town of Santiago
LUNCH 13:30 – 16:15 · DINNER 20:00 – 23:00 · RÚA DE SAN CLEMENTE, 6 · THREE MINUTES FROM THE CATHEDRAL
café La Morena is not only a breakfast place. At lunchtime and in the evening we serve market cooking with Galician produce, right in the old town, a three-minute walk from the Cathedral and the Praza do Obradoiro. Indoors or on either of our two terraces.
Octopus á feira with cachelos potatoes, empanada from our own bakery, croquettes made in house, Galician cheese boards, free-range Serantes eggs, Galician beef burgers and seasonal salads. And on Fridays and Saturdays we carry on until 00:30 with house cocktails.
What to eat here at lunchtime
The lunch menu runs from 13:30 to 16:15. A few things worth ordering:
- Octopus á feira with cachelos (18,50 €) and empanada from our own bakery (10,50 €) — the most Galician things on the menu.
- Croquettes, made here: Iberian ham; cecina with prawns and San Simón cheese; or mushroom with apple and pine nuts (10 € for seven).
- Boards to share: Galician cheeses, cecina with white truffle oil and boletus cream, or gildas.
- Free-range Serantes eggs with potatoes, Galician migas and Iberian ham (12,50 €), plus eggs benedict.
- Fried calamari sandwich with chive and lime aioli (12 €) and Herbón peppers in season.
- Salads: Mar Azul tomato with figs and Iberian ham, or burrata with peach and nuts.

Dinner in the old town of Santiago
Dinner is served from 20:00 to 23:00, from the same menu. It is an easy option if you are staying in the old town and you would rather sit down than queue along Rúa do Franco.
On Fridays and Saturdays we close at 00:30, so you can stay on with house cocktails at 7 €: the Old cLM with whiskey and oloroso, the Cuba cLM with aged rum and amaretto, the Gyn cLM, a vermouth and an alcohol-free mocktail.
Sunday to Thursday we close earlier, so for a late dinner come on a Friday or Saturday. If there are a lot of you, look at the group menus.
Burgers, gluten-free and vegan options
Three 200 g Galician beef burgers in brioche buns, all 16 € and served with fries: La Morena, truffled with boletus cream and Cebreiro cheese; La Rubia, with bacon, Arzúa-Ulloa cheese and a fried egg; and La Pelirroja, with guacamole and caramelised onion.
There are gluten-free options right across the menu: you can swap the bread on any toast for a crisp arepa, and we have gluten-free churros. Tell us when you order and we will tell you what we can adapt.
For vegetarians and vegans there is a veggie burrito, salads, a vegan toast with hummus and sautéed mushrooms, and full vegan set menus for groups.
